History & Design:

A uniquely shaped garden stretching from the southern intersection of East Boulevard and the Irish Garden to the Syrian garden. Mostly hillsides, with a few flat spaces for plazas and smaller memorial gardens.

Installed in 1970.

Sculpted by Cleveland artist Edward E. Parker. Donated by the Cleveland Chapter of the Tuskegee Airman’s Assn.

Plaque of the Gettysburg Address:

(next to Lincoln pedestal in southern tip of garden)

1. A bronze copy of the 200 word speech
2. Delivered Thursday November 19, 1863 in Gettysburg PA
3. It is one of the most influential speeches in history, delivered by President Lincoln

Bust of Mark Twain

(in Twain monument plaza area)

1. Samuel Clemens (1835-1910), better known as “Mark Twain”, is perhaps the most famous American contributor to literature. Books such as his works “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” and “A Yankee in King Arthur’s Court” are still enjoyed with a laugh today. Twain’s statue is displayed in the American Cultural Garden to be recognized for all he has done for the country and American Literature.
