One World Day 2024

One World Day brings Northeast Ohio together

On Sunday, Aug. 25, our community (in the broadest sense of the word) came together to celebrate our diversity at One World Day.  We began the day with a bit of rain, but the skies cleared up to greet our new citizens at the naturalization ceremony, and the day continued on a joyous trajectory.

Our Parade of Flags was our biggest and best ever. Fifty-plus cultures marched, danced and sang their way down Martin Luther King Boulevard, from the Ethiopian Garden to the “CLE” letters at the bottom of the German Garden.

After the parade and welcoming ceremony, visitors enjoyed activities in the individual gardens – whether it was watching a band or dance group, getting their Passports to Peace stamped, or relishing food from various cultures.

Our audience surveys show that One World Day has a positive impact on Greater Cleveland because of what it says about us, what it means to have this day to celebrate our many cultures. We agree. If you came, we hope you had a great time. If you couldn’t make it, we’ll see you next year on Aug. 24, 2025.
